One of best things a beginning singer (or even someone who thinks they’re a “non-singer”) can do for themselves, is to sing with a long steady note, which I call a “drone” note.

This is a fantastic way to learn not only what it sounds like, but what it FEELS like to match a pitch (also called singing in unison). Having someone else hold a long steady note while you move away from it and back again with your voice is also an amazing learning tool, as well as being lots of fun. Try it with me here!
