Practice Prompt: Leave your stuff around…
For a lot of us it’s “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” when it comes to practicing singing.
A great solution to this is to leave prompts in various places around your home….
• Lyric sheets on the kitchen counter or on your bed.
• Laminated lyric sheets on a hook in your shower.
• Leave a few straws around the house for breathing exercises
• If you play a ukulele, leave it on the couch – don’t put it away in its case!
• And if you have a guitar, stick it in the doorway between rooms so you have to pick it up to get through — once you’re touching it, well… you’ll probably want to play it! (Another tip from my music mentor Julie.)
Sometimes leaving your stuff out where you can see it is the perfect “tool” to prompt you to sing — if you’re not used to singing a lot this little trick might provide the shift you need into a more music-filled life.
