This past Friday I was a guest on the John McGauley radio show on WKBK, Keene — thanks for inviting me on, John! Always fun to spread the “Everyone Can Sing” gospel!
Here’s a link if you want to listen.
Here’s me and John…
Here’s a photo of the studio with John and producer, Dan Mitchell. Such an interesting set up — another world really, the behind the scene world of radio…
And I really enjoyed some of the photos on the walls of the halls. Check this out…
Cool, right?
Everyone Can Sing? Context is Important…
When I say “everyone can sing,” just what do I mean? That everyone can be taught to sing on Broadway? Not necessarily, and surely not without a lot of work. Can every single person learn to be a singing star? I don’t think so.
But is that the criteria for being able to say, “I can sing”? NO! NO, NO, NO!!! Being a champion tennis player isn’t the criteria for saying that you can play tennis, is it? Being a pulitzer-prize winning author isn’t the criteria for considering yourself a writer — right?
So why is our standard for being a singer so different. Ponder this question and get back to me with your thoughts. Soon I’ll get back to you with more of my own.
Tata for now!
